Sofia Maspero. Her sculptures can be understood as hybrids that move between botanical, animal, human, and otherworldly realities. While the forms are inspired by plant life, they often evolve into something unfamiliar: branches transform into tentacles, leaves into tongues, creating in-between organisms that are neither fully natural nor abstract, neither plant nor animal. The special-effect glazes on their surfaces generate shifting landscapes that suggest continuous growth and expansion into the surrounding space.
