Christian Marclay: The Clock

Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Wilshire Boulevard 5905, 90036, Los Angeles

26. Juli 2026 – 23. August 2026

Christian Marclay’s The Clock returns to Los Angeles, showcasing a 24-hour single-channel montage that intricately weaves together thousands of cinematic and television moments that depict the passage of time. This work functions as a timepiece, synchronized to local time, marking the exact hour for viewers over a continuous 24-hour period. The Clock reflects Marclay’s interests in collage, found visual and aural artifacts, and his background in live performance. The exhibition features two special 24-hour presentations on July 25-26 and August 22-23, allowing audiences to experience the piece in its entirety. Following these screenings, The Clock will be available for viewing during regular museum hours until August 23. Entry is first come, first served, with ticket holders granted access to all LACMA galleries. Visitors are expected to maintain silence and refrain from using recording devices. The installation is organized by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
