*Gifts of Michael Asher* highlights one of the most significant artist gifts in MOCA’s history: thirty-five works from Michael Asher’s personal collection, donated to the museum. Spanning the late 1940s through the late 1970s, the selection reflects both the breadth of Asher’s collecting and his deep ties to Los Angeles, where many of the works were made or shown. The exhibition includes works by Larry Bell, Vija Celmins, Judy Chicago, Tony DeLap, Marcel Duchamp, Joe Goode, Al Hansen, Donald Judd, Stephen Kaltenbach, Michael C. McMillen, Claes Oldenburg, Ken Price, and Man Ray, underscoring Asher’s lasting influence on MOCA’s history and on the city’s art scene. Organized by José Luis Blondet with Emilia Nicholson-Fajardo.
