The exhibition showcases fifty-eight international artists across various mediums, each exploring themes of transmission. Some, like Leckey, engage directly with the history of electronic broadcasting, while others, such as Deana Lawson, examine the act of transmission through the dynamics of gaze in her mother-daughter portrait. Artists like Rosemarie Trockel and Sherrie Levine utilize painting to challenge traditional methods, while Kaari Upson’s charcoal reliefs convey signals through bodily movement. Glenn Ligon’s work focuses on written language, and photography plays a significant role, with Barbara Kruger and Richard Prince repurposing commercial imagery. Wolfgang Tillmans and Thomas Demand create new worlds through abstraction and innovative photographic techniques, prompting viewers to reflect on the complexities of the real and virtual realms.
