Cecilia Vicuña’s newly commissioned MOCA project, *Quipu of Encounters: The Dream of Water*, marks the inaugural Eric and Wendy Schmidt Environment and Art Prize. The work extends her long-running practice of collective, participatory actions by bringing together artists, youth, scientists, and Indigenous water defenders in Chile and Los Angeles for poetic and political exchanges around water crises in both regions. The project culminates in a ritual quipu assembly in Los Angeles, linking struggles for water preservation across geographies and building transnational coalitions. The exhibition also includes documentation of the collaborative process, such as writings, images, oral histories, and field recordings, alongside a publication.
