Casita Maria presents the group exhibition What Makes Us, Us, a year of collective artmaking by the Young Artists of Casita Maria. The exhibition features seven collaborative artworks by 69 young artists exploring identity through multiple media including: painting, sculpture, collage, mixed media, embroidery and textiles. Young Artists in 3rd-8th grade created the artwork during the 2025-2026 after-school year under the direction of Teaching Artist Maria Luisa Portuondo Vila. This exhibition gently enters each Young Artists’ personal world and memory in order to build a collective story—one that emerges from the magic found in their diversity of backgrounds, languages, and experiences. What Makes Us, Us is a celebration of the Young Artists of Casita Maria and the transformative and healing powers of the Arts.
