A Moment in Time: Drawings, 1991-1992

Galerie Thomas Schulte presents the solo exhibition A Moment in Time: Drawings, 1991-1992 by Allan McCollum. The exhibition comprises nine collections of drawings with a total of 570 individual pieces from McCollum's drawing series, which is one of his most emblematic works. On the occasion of the gallery's 35th anniversary, McCollum's historical work is honored, which has had a significant influence on its conceptual program since the gallery was founded in 1991. McCollum's practice has been studying cultural reception and the relationship between mass-produced objects and the formation of meaning and value since the 1970s. The works often take the form of collections ranging from photographs to sculptural objects, reflecting the paradox of human existence: the desire to belong to a larger group, while at the same time preserving one's own uniqueness.
