On June 11, the World Cup will open in North America. Millions of people will look at stadiums, at gates, at the big show. A day later we open an exhibition about the opposite. Kurt Mühlenhaupt painted what no camera seemed worth: Children in backyards, the old woman at the window, the dealer at the market. People who stand apart, quiet, dignified, at home in their own lives. In addition, the exhibition shows pictures from Brandenburg: Vastness, silence, the offside as a landscape and as a place of longing. "Away" brings together both worlds, the social margin and the geographical one, and asks what is actually to be seen when you turn your gaze away.
