Super Super Markt presents Volumen, a solo exhibition by American artist Adrienne Maki (born 1997 in San Francisco). Maki’s practice combines painting and sculpture in a distinctive visual language that extends painting beyond the traditional canvas. Working primarily as a sculptor, she creates organic, symmetrical supports that escape the solidity of the square format while retaining a precise structural logic. The resulting works occupy a space between body, architecture and industry, functioning simultaneously as paintings and objects. On these dimensional surfaces, Maki treats painting as an extension of form rather than an applied layer. Cast passages, incisive cuts, egg-shaped motifs and restrained gestures respond directly to the contours of each support, allowing structure and image to emerge as a unified whole.
