Animal Mirror

carlier | gebauer presents the group exhibition ‘Animal Mirror’ with works by Jelena Bulajić, Diego Delas, Cecilia Edefalk, Asta Gröting, Thibault Hiss, Aki Inomata, Julia Kowalska, Lin May Saeed, Pakui Hardware, Paolo Salvador, Sequoia Scavullo, Erik Schmidt, Thomas Schütte, David Zink Yi and Paloma Varga Weisz. At the heart of this is the conflicting relationship between humans and animals: Animals appear as companions, confidants, food, sacrificial creatures, cuddly objects and symbols, charged with mythological, religious and folkloric meanings. The exhibition also focuses on empathy, ecology, genetics and the permeability between organic and artificial bodies. Aki Inomata lets animals participate in the creation of art and questions human authorship; Lin May Saeed explores liberation and solidarity, Pakui hardware body and biotechnology.
