Anne Imhof's exhibition "Citizen" explores the body through performance, sculpture, painting, and film, focusing on movement, observation, and the translation of fleeting experiences into lasting forms. Presented by Monika Sprüth and Philomene Magers during London Gallery Weekend, the exhibition builds on themes from Imhof's previous works, including DOOM: House of Hope and Fun ist ein Stahlbad. Central to the show are new large-scale wave paintings, a four-channel film, site-specific crowd barrier sculptures, oil pastel drawings on canvas, and bronze reliefs. A notable diptych, depicting a head through accumulative mark-making, advances her figurative work. The exhibition also engages with art-historical references, particularly the Danse macabre, prompting reflections on how to represent the transient nature of existence.
