Fluentum, Clayallee 174, 14195, Berlin
September 10, 2026 – December 12, 2026
With A Bug's Life, Fluentum presents the first institutional solo exhibition of Berlin-based artist Arash Nassiri in Germany. The focus is on the film of the same name, complemented by a series of new works. Commissioned together with the Chisenhale Gallery in London and the Fondation Pernod Ricard in Paris, the film takes a surreal journey through an opulent villa in Beverly Hills. The building is one of the last examples of a once formative and later forbidden architectural style of the Iranian diaspora, which settled in the USA as a result of the Iranian revolution of 1979. An insect made of wood moves through the palatial interior and listens to fragments of conversation. The home appears as a place of social ascent fantasies and exclusions, where personal and architectural stories overlap. During the exhibition, an artist's book is published, which uses archival materials as well as scientific and literary texts to trace the history of this Iranian-American construction.
