July 17, 2026 – August 30, 2026
KÖNIG GALERIE presents THE SHAPE OF ABSENCE, an exhibition by Iranian-born, US-based artist Arghavan Khosravi at St. Agnes in Berlin, marking her second collaboration with the gallery. Khosravi's work, rooted in lived, cultural, and historical experiences, transcends specific geographies and moments. Through painting and sculpture, she explores themes of power, agency, visibility, and control using symbolic language. Her art features recurring elements such as fragments of bodies, architectural spaces, veils, cages, hands, shadows, and openings, forming visual metaphors that invite interpretation. Khosravi's creations are akin to visual poems—meticulously composed and layered with meaning, drawing viewers into intimate yet theatrical spaces. The intensity of her work lies in restraint, revealing what is obscured or partially shown. Over time, her paintings have evolved into sculptural and architectural forms, incorporating painted surfaces, shaped supports, strings, and symbolic objects, creating a multi-layered sense of perspective and spatiality reminiscent of altarpieces or architectural interiors.
