C/O Berlin presents the eleventh ›Artistic Intervention‹ at Café C/O Berlin x Bark Berlin with the internationally renowned artist Ayşe Erkmen. The installation ›Typed Types‹ is based on the well-known pangram ›The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog‹, a sentence that contains all the letters of the alphabet and is often used to demonstrate fonts. Erkmen affixes that phrase to the walls of the café as a vinyl in a typography developed by Erkmen, consisting of signs and symbols produced by the typewriter. The sequence of sentences stretching across the room unfolds into an almost slapstick visual narrative, becoming smaller and smaller until the proverbial dog finally seems to disappear. Like many of her site-specific works, ›Typed Types‹ is also redesigned for each exhibition location and thus gains its own significance in the respective spatial context. In the year of the 200th anniversary of photography, the installation playfully refers to the tension between language, code and image.
