In ›billy childish and the children of the sect‹ by neugerriemschneider, Billy Childish deepens his ongoing engagement with family and art history and exhibits for the first time together with his children Huddie and Scout Hamper, who are also painterly and musically active. The paintings of the cabinet presentation, including mutual portraits and motifs of shared interests, were mostly created in the common studio and overcome classical ideas of generation, influence and creative freedom, shaped by historical examples of artist dynasties, mentorship and competition. Connectedness thus becomes the source for unforeseen findings on both a compositional and personal level, which unite in the exhibition to form a painted entry in a common chronicle.
