In the 1980s, the GDR developed from a bohemian subculture into a specifically East German confrontation with postmodernism, even if this could not be called so there. Based on the life and work of the architect Michael Kny, who shaped the scene, and the ›Marzahner Tor‹ designed by him, the exhibition tells of failed hopes for a ›New GDR‹ with models, texts, cinematic documents and artistic interventions.
