Esther Pearl Watson: Celestial Road Trip

Esther Pearl Watson’s fourth solo exhibition with Vielmetter Los Angeles, Celestial Road Trip, runs from July 11 to August 21, 2026, and presents new paintings and works on paper inspired by the desert landscape of Joshua Tree, where she relocated in 2025. Blending memory and fantasy, the works depict coyotes, tortoises, burros, cowgirls, angels, and UFOs drifting through luminous skies and wildflower-filled terrain. Shaped by her move after the 2025 Los Angeles fires and her father’s death, the exhibition draws on her personal history, family memories, and her father’s writings on UFOs and angels to create a dreamlike journey inward and outward.
