Denis Oding is an artist, creator of large-scale light and media installations, and organizer of mega-raves. Born in St. Petersburg, he has lived and worked in Berlin since 2022. His artistic path began in an artists’ squat during the cultural transition of the late 1980s and early 1990s, where he created fluorescent “acid”-style paintings. In the 1990s, he turned toward contemporary art technologies and electronic music, later organizing raves and music festivals throughout the 1990s and 2000s. In the 2010s, Oding became deeply fascinated by Scandinavian mythology and sagas, traveling through Norway and developing *Midgard*, a meditative series of landscapes depicting majestic fjords. His current series, *Muspelheim*, is dedicated to the realm of fire — a primordial force of both creation and destruction. Moving away from the contemplative calm of earlier works, Oding explores heightened visual intensity through sharp contrasts, luminous colors, and dynamic movement. Fire appears as consuming energy, protective warmth, and a transformative spirit, reflecting cycles of renewal and the continued presence of myth in contemporary experience. His works are held in museums and private collections in Germany, the USA, Russia, and Norway.
