Gabriel Chaile. Brenda

DAS MINSK Kunsthaus in Potsdam, Max-Planck-Straße 17, 14473, Potsdam

April 25, 2026 – August 30, 2026

Starting from the indigenous cultures of northern Argentina, Gabriel Chaile develops a sculptural and social practice that mediates between artwork and utility object. His works are made of elementary materials such as clay, mud and metal and take on traditional forms as well as communal rituals. A central part of his work is a growing series of sculptures that also serve as stoves. ‘Brenda, 2022’, named after Chaille’s sister, features stylised facial elements reminiscent of pre-Columbian artifacts from his home region of Tucumán. The sculpture is more than an object: It invites people to come together, to cook, bake bread, eat together and participate in a collective everyday life. Brenda has already been activated in artistic and public contexts, for example at the Biennale Gherdëina 2022 and in the joint project Arcadia in Leeuwarden 2025. During the summer season 2026, Brenda will be in operation on Saturdays from 3 pm to 7 pm as well as on other special occasions, offering pizza and baked snacks to the visitors of DAS MINSK.
