With ›Parataxis‹ Grace Weaver presents her seventh solo exhibition with the gallery. Represented in domestic interiors, Weaver's large, lanky protagonists perform the small ceremonies of everyday life. Individual figures and couples sit on low chairs or those with high backrests, holding amphorae, gathering around tables or raising a glass. Behind them, coloured stripes point to panelled walls or doorways — abstract signs of domestic interiors dissolving into picturesque swatches of colour. These familiar scenes unfold in the measured rhythm of a ritual. As in the writings of James Joyce, the meaning condenses through the repeated gestures of everyday life and invites us to "meet the reality of experience for the millionth time".
