Tarek Atoui, an artist and composer known for his innovative performances and installations, presents a site-specific work for Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall as part of the Hyundai Commission series. His practice focuses on the exploration of sound through multisensory environments that integrate music, technology, sculpture, and performance. Atoui's work is characterized by the invention of unique, intricately engineered instruments, created in collaboration with various artists and makers, which serve as both functional musical tools and sculptural objects. This commission marks the 11th in the series, which has attracted over 19 million visitors in the past decade, inviting artists to reshape public perceptions of contemporary art within the expansive industrial space of the Turbine Hall. The Hyundai Commission is supported by Hyundai Motor, the Tarek Atoui Supporters Circle, and the Tate Americas Foundation.
