What happens when an iconic painting suddenly needs tape? Annette von Ulardt – known as *vonwunderfitz* – asks exactly this question and answers it with a wink. In her series of photographs, she reconstructs large works of art history with the simplest means: Everyday objects, improvised setups, a lot of patience and a good dose of wit replace what once created brushes, marble or canvas. Sometimes it takes months for an idea to be ready for implementation – the actual photo is often quickly in the box. Sometimes hours go by adjusting a setup to the millimetre until the light is right, the fold sits and the tape holds. Adhesive tape is Annette von Ulardt's most important work material. What emerges is more than a humorous homage to art history. It is an invitation: Look again. Rediscover the familiar. Let yourself be surprised by what you think you know. Their images play with expectation and resolution, with awe and ease – and they do so with a warmth that is rare. Art that makes you laugh without trivializing. Humor as a curatorial attitude. *IN REAL NOW?!* is an exhibition about the creative courage to make the big small – and to discover how much size there is in the small.
