The Buchmann Galerie presents the exhibition ›The New England Paintings‹ by the American painter Jim Butler for Berlin Art Week. On display are twelve paintings that the artist has created in the past five years en plein air in his homeland in northern New England. The works combine precise observation of nature with memory and personal experience. The finest nuances of light, atmosphere and color give the images an extraordinary immediacy. Landscapes with trees, rivers and boats unfold their effect not through dramatic stagings or idealized nature, but through the quiet intensity of the everyday. Jim Butler makes visible the beauty of his immediate surroundings and at the same time opens up a space for his own memories and associations.
