Haus am Waldsee, Argentinische Allee 30, 14163, Berlin
September 13, 2026 – September 13, 2026
JJJJJerome Ellis, composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist and author from Norfolk, Virginia, uses her own glottal block stuttering as artistic material. The involuntary pauses become compositional elements that break up linearity, rearrange time and invite attentive listening. Ellis draws from free jazz, modern composition, musique concrète, gospel and environmental music and works with saxophone, organ, dulcimer, electronics and voice. The artistic practice explores blackness, stuttering language, time and nature through performances, sounds, texts and improvisations. For Haus am Waldsee, Ellis develops a musical performance that unfolds between the garden and the interior. Plants, movements and the acoustic conditions of the place become part of an open composition between sound and silence, presence and interruption.
