GRIMM London, Duke Street St James's 43a, SW1Y 6DD, London
September 3, 2026 – October 10, 2026
GRIMM presents Some Distance Apart, a solo exhibition featuring new paintings by British artist Jonathan Wateridge. This marks Wateridge's third exhibition with the gallery and his second in London. Accompanying the exhibition is a new publication in the gallery monograph series. Wateridge's work blends contemporary and classical elements, depicting moments of suspension and transition where figures interact with vibrant fields of color and form. The exhibition showcases distant interiors alongside dynamic land and seascapes, exploring themes of the mythic and primal. Wateridge's painting practice emphasizes anticipation as a tangible experience, linking vision, film, memory, and matter. The artworks invite viewers to engage in intentional looking, tracing the connections between classical and contemporary imagery, where fusion and fragmentation coexist.
