July 29, 2026 – August 28, 2026
Jonas Varnas, graphic artist and cartoonist, presents the exhibition ‘And this, and this, and this, and this, and that’, in which he reveals the essence of his work – humor and irony, which make it possible to reveal the weaknesses of man and society. Born in Papuszyn in 1936, Varnas experienced Siberia, and these experiences shaped his work, in which even serious topics often cause smiles and reflections. Since 1968 he has worked in various publishing houses and since 1992 he has become a cartoonist for the daily newspaper Lietuvos rytas. Varnas organizes annual Lithuanian cartoon exhibitions, which became a meeting place for humorists. In addition to cartoons, he created posters, logos and illustrations, and his works were exhibited both in Lithuania and abroad. The artist was awarded the Cross of the Knight of the Order of Gediminas and the Golden Badge of the Lithuanian Artists' Union, reminding that the best cartoon not only makes you laugh, but also encourages you to think.
