Labour (Farahnaz Hatam & Colin Hacklander)

KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Auguststraße 69, 10117, Berlin

September 12, 2026 – September 12, 2026

The Berlin-based artist duo Labour – Farahnaz Hatam and Colin Hacklander – will present the specially developed four-hour performance ‘soft thought’ during the final weekend of the Kyiv Biennial. The interdisciplinary practice of the two moves at the intersection of sound, performance and spatial composition and is rooted in Berlin's electronic and experimental music scene. The title refers to an intuitive, gentle form of thinking, as well as an essay by Luciana Parisi and Stamatia Portanova. The work focuses on openness, possibilities and relational mobility and proposes listening as a way to experience uncertainty together. In the performance without a fixed beginning or clear end, percussion, spatial sound, ecstatic dance, intimate conversations, moving image and live performance are continuously reconnected. The large-scale work extends from the attic over stairwells to the exhibition rooms of KW. The audience moves through the building between the spatial motifs of line and circle. The performance is designed as an open drop-in/drop-out format.
