KUNSTHAUS der ACHIM FREYER STIFTUNG, Kadettenweg 53, 12205, Berlin

September 12, 2026 – December 13, 2026

On the occasion of Berlin Art Week 2026, the Achim Freyer Kunsthaus presents a solo exhibition by the Berlin painter Lunita-July Dorn (*1999). In large-scale paintings and drawings, Dorn repeatedly makes herself the imaginary protagonist. Her own portrait forms the starting point of an intense self-questioning in which she tests individual and social role models. Personal memories and feelings interweave them with fantastic motifs and scenes to graceful, autofictional narratives. The images deliberately preserve the traces of their creation process: Pre- and overdrawings, stratifications, strike-outs and excavated passages remain visible and open. Dorn's pictorial and psychological search for identity thus appears not as a completed process, but as a state of permanent transformation. The Kunsthaus invites the artist to enter into dialogue with the collection of classical modernism, Art Brut and Outsider Art.
