[ materialist ] shows sculptures and space-specific installations dealing with socio-political and cultural-political issues at Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart. The group exhibition brings together eight sculptors working in Leipzig: Laura Eckert, Enne Haehnle, Elisabeth Howey, Lucy König, Agnes Lammert, Wibke Rahn, Theresa Rothe and Sophie Uchman. The focus is on new forms of collective practice and solidarity. The group [materialist ] works in the expanded field of sculpture with steel, stone, plaster and concrete, vegetable fibers and renewable raw materials, wax and clay. It positions itself on feminist as well as socio- and cultural-political issues, acts in solidarity and is not organized hierarchically. The artists meet the physical, economic and logistical challenges of sculpture with the sharing of experiential knowledge, tools, contacts and networks.
