**Shifting Grounds** explores a world in constant flux, where familiar structures, boundaries, and certainties become increasingly unstable. Through different artistic approaches, Janis Schroeder and Ralf Tekaat respond to changing environments, working intuitively and allowing place, chance, and observation to shape their practice. Schroeder’s video installation *Messages from the Black Sea* reflects on the Black Sea region as both habitat and transit zone, weaving together landscape, politics, mythology, and personal encounters. Tekaat’s large-scale drawings draw on experiences from a residency in Svalbard, where glaciers, isolation, and the constant presence of polar bears inform layered, atmospheric inner landscapes. Together, the works examine how we navigate shifting physical, political, and psychological terrains.
