Atlantic Gallery, 548 W 28th St, 10001, New York City
August 4, 2026 – August 22, 2026
Atlantic Gallery presents Connecting Moments, featuring new paintings by Nat Connacher, from August 4–22, 2026. The exhibition reflects a decade spent alongside his mother as Alzheimer’s disease altered her memories. The works, composed of reconfigured individual panels, serve as a testament to resilience amidst loss. The centerpiece, On the Other Side (2026), captures the moment of diagnosis and the support that guided Nat’s mother into her future. Connacher emphasizes the enduring aspects of her personality that the disease could not erase, such as her expressions and vibrant clothing. The paintings build upon his earlier Residue series, where spontaneous compositions were refined to reveal underlying truths. In Connecting Moments, he curates excerpts from these works into multi-panel narratives that explore themes of despair, resilience, and beauty, ultimately framing the experience as a shared human story that highlights the potential for beauty in challenging times.
