nGbK - Station urbaner Kulturen, Auerbacher Ring 41, 12619, Berlin

July 25, 2026 – August 30, 2026

The showcase exhibition shows works by Michele Galassi and Gertraude Pohl that examine how built interior design, architecture and the city shape social participation, identity and belonging. Galassi documents uprooted communities, homelessness and social vulnerability in its long-term projects; the exhibition features a photograph from his series ‘The Winter Journey’ from a Berlin dormitory. With her art-on-construction projects, Pohl shaped the visual identity of many public buildings in the GDR through independent abstract design language and colour-material spatial concepts. Her coloured murals of modular concrete shaped stone elements from children’s combinations (1977-86) in Berlin and partitions of double-sided concrete shaped stone elements from Frankfurt/Oder are on display.
