Neue Nationalgalerie, Potsdamer Straße 50, 10785, Berlin
September 10, 2026 – September 13, 2026
As part of Berlin Art Week, the Neue Nationalgalerie presents the fifth edition of the performance festival Perform!. The starting point is traditionally a historically groundbreaking performance: Trisha Brown's Walking on the Wall (1971), a major work of the American postmodern dance movement. The work will be further developed in close cooperation with the Trisha Brown Dance Company and will be shown daily from 9 to 13 September 2026 on the terrace on the outer glass facade of the Neue Nationalgalerie. On 11 and 13 September, Berlin-based artist Kiani del Valle will present ‘Instrucciones para existir’, a performance specially developed for the venue. It combines performance with stunts and puts the body in a direct relationship to architecture. The work responds to the iconic construction of Mies van der Rohe and at the same time sees itself as a contemporary homage to Trisha Brown. On 13 September, further contemporary performances will complement the festival programme. Perform! is curated by Klaus Biesenbach with Lisa Botti and Gregor Quack.
