Publik Machen: Kosmos—Agenden, Netzwerke, Freundschaften

The exhibition ›Kosmos‹ at Schloss Biesdorf brings together works by over 30 artists, including Tina Bara, Fritz Cremer, Michael Morgner, Henrike Naumann and Elizabeth Shaw. Drawing on the holdings of the Centre for Art Exhibitions of the GDR, the ifa-Institute for Foreign Relations, the Museum Utopia and Everyday Life / Kunstarchiv Beeskow and complementary loans, it opens up a multifaceted view of GDR art. The focus is on artistic positions that moved between adaptation and independence and, despite state control, opened up individual freedoms. The exhibition follows the networks and connections that have emerged beyond official cultural institutions, especially in Berlin's surroundings. With the focus on strategies of the ›in-between‹ and the ›despite‹ ›cosmos‹ draws a multi-layered picture of artistic self-assertion. The exhibition is curated by Sylvie Kürsten and Susanne Weiß.
