Miguel Abreu Gallery presents Regroup Show, featuring paintings, sculptures, and a photographic object by various artists. The exhibition focuses on materiality and the formation and deformation of images. Sam Lewitt's copper sheet, designed by an optimization algorithm, highlights the connection between digital images and circuit boards. Jean-Luc Moulène's Quelque Chose Blanc explores a 3D color spectrum through a trefoil knot. Milton Resnick's 1981 Straws painting exemplifies the interplay of paint and gesture. Florian Pumhösl's monochrome plaster works create integrated reliefs, while Liz Deschenes’ Claude Glass emphasizes the materiality of glass in perception. Paul Pagk’s minimal compositions feature linear structures in monochrome fields. Beaux Mendes’ observational paintings capture fleeting sensations, and Blake Rayne’s work combines painted canvas with linguistic elements. Alex Carver’s skeletal fists interact with a patent diagram, while Resnick’s gouache reflects a return to figuration. R. H. Quaytman’s silkscreened panels reinterpret 16th-century art, and Eileen Quinlan’s scanner work showcases dynamic material interactions. Kate Mosher Hall’s recursion painting transforms a childhood video still, and Dana Lok’s small painting evokes strained vocalizations amid contemporary instability.
