Vielmetter Los Angeles presents *Presence*, Roberto Diago’s first West Coast solo exhibition, on view July 25 to September 5, 2026. The show features new mixed-media portraits and still-life paintings that continue the Havana-based Afro-Cuban artist’s long critique of racism in Cuban history and culture. Using reclaimed materials, grids, and stripped-down forms, Diago creates works that reflect the realities and precarity of the Black diaspora, while exploring ancestry, segregation, memory, and freedom.
