Hamburger Bahnhof - Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart, Invalidenstraße 50, 10557, Berlin
December 12, 2025 – September 13, 2026
Hamburger Bahnhof presents Saâdane Afif's first institutional solo exhibition in Berlin. The exhibition gives an insight into the work of the interdisciplinary artist living in the city since 2003 and shows, among other things, the multi-part work ‘The Fountain Archives’. The artistic archive project is dedicated to one of the most prominent chapters in 20th century art history: the legendary readymade ‘Fountain’ by Marcel Duchamp from 1917. Afif's spatial installation came to the museum in 2023 as a generous donation from Paul Maenz. The exhibition shows it with other works that profoundly and with fine humor question the institution of the Kunstmuseum and the principle of authorship.
