Sarkis

Maxim Gorki Theater, Am Festungsgraben 2, 10117, Berlin

September 10, 2026 – October 11, 2026

The season begins with an encounter between Sarkis and Tadeusz Kantor. In cooperation with the Kantor Museum Cricoteka Kraków, Sarkis transforms the stage and auditorium of the Gorki into an installation engaging with Kantor’s world. Kantor never considered theatre, object, image, memory and trauma separately. His stage objects are carriers of history. Sarkis, who has decisively shaped conceptual art since the 1960s and works from an Armenian history of memory, invites Kantor into his own thinking. The new Gorki adopts Sarkis’s concept of the invitation as an artistic form: an opening of political, historical and aesthetic spaces.
