SomoS Arts presents Shed, a solo exhibition by American artist Eloise Harcourt. Developed during her residency at SomoS, the exhibition features new sculptures that give the tension between care and control a distinctly physical form. Shaped by Harcourt's engagement with medical systems, reproductive violence, and institutional regimes of care, the work asks where support ends and discipline begins. Drawing on the visual language of domestic structures, braces, and gynecological instruments, Harcourt creates sculptural situations in which soft, sagging, body-like surfaces meet rigid frames and supports. What appears to hold, stabilize, or protect may also press, confine, and discreetly alter. Shed addresses the subtle violence that can reside within structures commonly associated with care, whether in the clinic, the home, or the wider social order. Working with materials and textures that evoke skin, hair, folds, and internal bodily matter, Harcourt transforms the gallery into an environment of exposure, containment, and uneasy proximity. About Eloise Harcourt: Eloise Harcourt (b. 2002, USA) is an American artist working across sculpture, installation, photography, and performance. She recently completed a BFA in Studio Art with a minor in Writing at Washington University in St. Louis. Alongside her artistic work, she has also trained and worked as an EMT, an experience that has sharpened her attention to the body, vulnerability, and the material realities of care.
