A temporary presentation on "Language Families" has been installed as part of the Family Theme Cluster. The manuscripts presented illustrate the linguistic diversity of the finds from the Turfan expeditions. Represented are languages of the Indo-European language family (Sanskrit, Tocharic, etc.), the Sino-Tibetan (Chinese, Tibetan, Tangut), the Turkish (Old Turkish), the Mongolian and the Afro-Asian language family (Syro-Aramaic). The temporary presentation is curated by Lu Tian, scientific museum assistant, Museum of Asian Art of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. ‘Language Families’ is the alternating presentations in the permanent exhibition ‘Kunst von der Nordenen Seidenstraße’ of the Museum für Asiatische Kunst of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, in the dome room, room 317.
