Stelios Kallinikou . Cliffs Among Dreams

C/O Berlin, Hardenbergstraße 22-24, 10623, Berlin

September 11, 2026 – January 20, 2027

The Cypriot artist Stelios Kallinikou (*1985) has been working on the Akrotiri peninsula in the south of Cyprus for over a decade. The area combines ecological diversity with military use: Akrotiri is a British Sovereign Base Area with a Royal Air Force base and is also home to Cyprus' largest natural inland lake, an important wetland for migratory birds. Kallinikou's photographs and films show the simultaneity of nature and military infrastructure and show how the military base shapes perception and access to this place. The exhibition includes photographs, films and sculptural assemblages and approaches Akrotiri as both landscape and territory. Geopolitical questions are linked to motives of migration, belonging and extinction, without going into a linear narrative. The work will be presented together with Susanne Kriemann's exhibition as part of the After Nature .. Ulrike Crespo Photography Prize 26 presented for the first time at C/O Berlin.
