Stephanie Comilang: Search for Life

Stephanie Comilang (*1980, Toronto, Canada) is a Filipino-Canadian artist who lives and works between Toronto and Berlin. She completed a bachelor's degree at the Ontario College of Art & Design University. At the heart of her artistic practice is the experience of migration. Comilang examines the increasing gap between the human and the global. With a genre she describes as a ›science fiction documentary‹, she creates films whose narratives are supported by different voices and perspectives. In it, she deals with the question of how culture and society react to and deal with central aspects of the globalized world such as mobility, capital and labour.
