Susan Silton: Diving Into The Wreck

Susan Silton: *Diving into the Wreck* is the first major survey of the Los Angeles-based artist’s work, bringing together more than 150 pieces spanning participatory and multimedia installations, photography, video, audio, early graphic works, and textual interventions. The exhibition positions Silton as a significant voice in West Coast conceptual, feminist, and queer art histories. Its title comes from Adrienne Rich’s 1972 poem, whose exploration of language, consciousness, and political awakening resonates with Silton’s practice, which probes the relationships between text, vision, body, voice, and public memory. Also debuting is *Civilized Voices*, a site-specific project of five hand-painted billboards featuring new poems by Los Angeles writers, inspired by Aline Barnsdall’s billboard interventions at Barnsdall Park.
