The Flag Bearers—Rachel Monosov

In her solo exhibition »The Flag Bearers«, Rachel Monosov presents a series of sculptural works developed especially for the exhibition and a performance inspired by the works of the painter Edgar Ende. The exhibition forms the seventh chapter of the series »Becoming B« and is curated by Jorgina Stamogianni. Starting from Surrealism, a movement that emerged against the background of the experiences of the First World War, Rachel Monosov examines how dream images, symbolic shifts and the unconscious can expose hidden individual as well as social conflicts and traumas. More than a century after the emergence of the Surrealist movement, the exhibition questions the return of historical patterns, nationalism and war and examines the collective notions and fears that shape our present. The sculptures will be activated during the exhibition through performances in collaboration with Rachell Bo Clark, Cami Brogaard and Victor Dumont.
