Winifred Gill: A Bloomsbury Pioneer

Discover an overlooked innovator of the Bloomsbury group, Winifred Gill (1891-1981), through works held in the Courtauld’s collection. This display will spotlight Gill, a gifted artist and central figure at Roger Fry’s avant-garde Omega Workshops, whose contributions have remained largely overlooked. The exhibition will feature her inventive toy designs and a remarkable still life painting characteristic of the Bloomsbury style, showcasing her bold response to color and form. Later prints will illustrate the development of her style in the 1920s while she taught arts and crafts. Sketchbooks and printing materials will provide deeper insights into her practice.
