Capitain Petzel, Karl-Marx-Allee 45, 10178, Berlin
1 mai 2026 – 13 juin 2026
Capitain Petzel presents the first solo exhibition by Los Angeles-based artist Rodney McMillian (b. 1969) with the gallery. McMillian is known for his multidisciplinary practice spanning painting, sculpture, installation, performance, and writing. The show features new works from his Black Paintings series—heavily worked surfaces marked by folds, seams, and chromatic variation in vinyl and fabric—alongside sculptures and a new film. The works engage with the tradition of abstract painting while addressing themes of race, labor, and social inequality. McMillian's black paintings can be read politically, referencing Black identity and visibility within the history of art and US society.
