Heinz Knobloch (1926-2003), born in Dresden, was an important journalist and writer whose work took centre stage in Berlin. The exhibition ‘Focus on: Heinz Knobloch – With Feuilletons Against Forgetting History’ presents a first insight into his extensive estate, which is kept in the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin. Knobloch wrote over 1,600 feuilletons in more than 40 years, in particular in his ‘Both Eyes’ section, which appeared in the weekly mail for 20 years. He is regarded as the last great representative of the ‘Small Form’ of the German-language newspaper feuilleton and addressed social grievances under the conditions of the GDR. His book ‘Mr Moses in Berlin’ (1979) received attention both in the GDR and in the Federal Republic of Germany. The exhibition is curated by Helmut Mehnert, who also oversees the website www.heinz-knobloch.de. Six memorial plaques in Berlin testify to Knobloch's memory work.
