The exhibition You Are Here Since You Left by Margarita Wenzel in the Historisches Keller presents a site-specific sound installation that deals with the perception of space and sound. The installation consists of subtle sounds created from movements such as air, steps and resonances of the masonry. These sounds move in the frequency range of human voices, but without going into speech, and return to the material. Wenzel explores what happens when architecture becomes audible and listeners experience themselves as reverberation or projection. The cellar functions as a resonant body that dissolves the boundaries between inside and outside, present and memory as well as the own and the foreign. Hearing becomes an act of searching, and space arises at the moment of its failure, while the question of the origin of an echo is raised.
