The exhibition "Making Yourself Related" brings together positions of female artists from Canada, South Korea, Nigeria, Ghana, Myanmar, Germany, Estonia, Uzbekistan and the USA. Their practices reflect the understanding that we are involved in a dynamic network of relationships that includes humans, animals, plants, spirits and the cosmos. This perspective criticizes (colonial) regimes of violence and exploitation as well as state ideologies that reduce the diversity of relationships to rigid family models. The artists oppose the loss of connections, biodiversity and knowledge and explore marginalized forms of knowledge and relationships. Four central themes characterize the exhibition: Belonging and community, interconnections between human and non-human collectives, revival of devalued cultures of knowledge as well as cultural memory and intergenerational exchange. The transcultural diversity of the approaches creates a pluriverse and invites you to develop your own connections.
