The conceptual and temporal relationship to the medium of photography forms the focus of the Hackelsberger Collection. Younger contemporary photo artists are particularly represented in the collection. They experiment with photographic material, expand the medium through multiple exposures or cameraless photography and use analog and digital methods. Often these are photo-artistic positions that consist of more than one image. Not only (new) reproduction techniques are relevant for the dissemination of photographic images, but also their further use in videos, sculptures or illuminated fonts. In the approach to or interest in the medium, constantly changing photography as well as the diverse relationship to reality and the medium itself play a decisive role. This is the focus of the collection. The artistic positions – consciously unconsciously – combine a turn to change and transformations of identities and the associated ambiguities. In addition, the artists reflect on unconstructed societies – then, later and now.
